The Mercury 4tet is a newly formed quartet including a Romanian violinist, a British clarinettist and French cellist and pianist. Initially formed to play the Quartet for the end of time by Olivier Messiaen, the quartet is now dedicated to the interpretation of the masterworks of the 20th century as well as any new expression of the contemporary music. This deeply moving work, written by Olivier Messiaen whilst in a Nazi concentration camp, is accompanied by Hindemith’s Quartet for Clarinet, violin, cello and piano.
